About the Preserve:
The Klipstein property is an actively farmed field with wooded hedgerows on several sides. Via a trail easement across the Klipstein’s private property, the field connects to the Lance Preserve, a 40-acre preserve owned by the Tewksbury Land Trust. The field and trail are crucial links in the Ten Mile Trail, a network of preserved properties and trails that loop through the center of Tewksbury Township.
At its western line, this property takes the Ten Mile Trail to County Route 517 at the crest of the hill – one of the most favorable crossing spots being considered for crossing the two-lane highway. At its eastern line, the property links to the trail easement that leads into the TLT Lance Preserve.
As with all preserves, stewardship is continuous, with on-going projects to distribute wood chips on the trail and plant native understory trees in the hedgerow between Klipstein and Lance.
